About time ! A pixelized artshow in Paris ! I’m proud to announce that, in collaboration with Chogrin of the Autumn Society, the Flaq gallery, in Paris, will host during a month “8-Bits Champions”, an awesome artshow tribute to old school video games heroes ! For those who don’t know, the Autumn Society is a collective of illustrators from all around the USA, who organize rad artshows I always wanted to visit like the 3G Show, the 3B Show, or more recently Shell Shock… Well that’s it, we joined forces, and those nice fellows are coming right here in Paris. They won’t be alone, though, because I curated great French artists who are really eager to participate ! So yeah, it’s the first international artshow for the Autumn Society, and it’s a real pleasure to welcome them !

Il était temps ! Une expo sous le signe du pixel à Paris ! Je suis très fier de vous annoncer le vernissage prochain de 8 Bits Champions, en collaboration avec Chogrin de la Autumn Society, à la Flaq, à Paris ! Le thème : les héros de jeux vidéo “old school”… Pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas, la Autumn Society est un collectif d’artistes venus des 4 coins des USA, qui se sont regroupés pour créer des événements aussi cool que le 3G Show, le 3B Show, ou plus récemment Shell Shock. Hé bien ça y est, nous avons unis nos forces, et ces petits américains plein de talent débarquent à Paname. Je peux vous dire qu’ils sont contents… Et ils ne seront pas en reste : pour préserver l’honneur de la France, j’ai réuni de nombreux artistes français tous plus doués les uns que les autres, pour vous offrir une expo dont, je l’espère, vous vous souviendrez longtemps !

 

The place ? The Flaq gallery.

Located 36 rue Quincampoix (Amélie Poulain’s fans will certainly know the name !), the Flaq gallery is a beautiful and unique place in Paris. With 2 basements, it can host numerous pieces of art in spaces beautifully decorated. One of its room is entirely composed of old middle age vaults, which bring an Indiana Jones atmosfear… But La Flaq is also a place you can eat and drink wonderful Italian wines, cheese and hams (nothing to do with the fact that the owner is Italian! ). So here we are, standing in a gorgeous gallery, watching awesome pieces of art dedicated to video games, with a glass of red wine in the hand… What else ? Well…

Le lieu ? La Flaq.

Située au 36, rue Quincampoix dans le quatrième arrondissement de Paris, juste derrière Beaubourg, la Flaq est un lieu atypique, à la fois galerie d’art et bar spécialisé en vins et charcuteries italiennes… On peut y prendre un café en admirant le mobilier vintage chiné à droite et à gauche, ou savourer un délicieux fromage made in Italy en découvrant les œuvres d’artistes accrochées aux murs. Disposant de 2 sous-sols, la Flaq réserve de véritables surprises, comme d’anciennes voutes moyenâgeuses donnant aux expositions un parfum d’intemporalité. Et un petit côté Indiana Jones aussi…

French association MO5 deals with saving, protecting, and making discovering the video games culture in its entirety. Like madmen, those guys save everything they can which is video games related. From the classical NES to the mythic Neo-Geo, form the old Apple Computers to video games so old you’ve never heard of, those guys live for their passion. They also organize on a regular basis video games shows, during events like the Game Convention in Paris. They also create genuine shows such as Museo Games, with the help of the ministry of culture. Their ultimate goal ? A solid, concrete, lasting and official video games museum, to show the public all the culture hidden behind what is far more than a simple hobby… And thanks to them, you’ll be able, amongst the artworks, to admire old school consoles and cartridges, but you’ll also be able to play live on NES and Master Systems during the show !

En plus des œuvres consacrées aux héros de pixels, l’exposition 8-Bits Champions accueille, avec l’aide de l’association MO5, un véritable petit musée du pixel. Vous pourrez ainsi admirer consoles, manettes et cartouches d’époque, mais aussi retrouver toutes les joies de Super Mario « à l’ancienne », avec plusieurs machines jouables mises à disposition des visiteurs. Depuis 1996, l’association MO5 œuvre pour la préservation du patrimoine informatique et vidéo-ludique, quel qu’il soit. C’est grâce à MO5 que vous pouvez retrouver les consoles de votre enfance sur des événements comme le Salon du Jeu Vidéo à Paris… MO5 est également à l’origine de l’exposition « Museo-Game », qui a eu des record d’affluence cette année au Musée des Arts et Métiers de Paris. C’est grâce à MO5 qu’un jour nous pourrons (croisons les doigts, même si cet objectif se rapproche de plus en plus), visiter un jour un musée officiel du jeu vidéo !
