When the Darkness looks back at you

Allen Williams is an award-winning illustrator, designer, and artist. From an early age, he used pencil and paper to escape from reality. Known internationally, Allen has used and honed his talents for over 28 years in everything from illustration for game companies and book covers to conceptual work for major films and television. His vision for these projects ranges from illustration to conceptual work and the design of creatures and characters.

What strikes me most when looking at his work is the permanent impression of disturbing strangeness that emanates from his works. We are faced with imaginary creatures as well, but some of their features are reminiscent of normal humans. Drawing his inspiration from artists such as HR Giger or HP Lovecraft, we find works presenting monsters and angels from the dark imagination of Allen Williams. However, and this is particularly what fascinates me in his work, nothing is frightening here. It is much more about pure impression, bio-mecha at times, and soft horror.

It is easy to get lost in this universe and all the creations of this artist as his universe is so deep and seems filled with his own mythology.
