The Dark Art of Fortifem
When Gustave Doré gets into Metal
Fortifem is the name behind which hides the duo composed of Jesse Daubertes & Adrien Havet. Both graphic designers by training, they joined forces in 2012 to create Fortifem and focus on their work around illustration.
Their style is reminiscent, without context, of the engravings of masters such as Gustave Doré or Piranesi, while adding a resolutely modern touch. Indeed, we find elements reminiscent of old school tattooing in their creations. This duo of artists thus puts their talent mainly at the service of music bands, mainly metal bands for which their graphic style works marvelously. We can find them creating posters for Rammstein, Gojira, or even for the French Igorrr or for Regarde Les Hommes Tomber.
It’s always a pleasure to discover their new creations, and I thought I heard that a Kickstarter was going to start at the end of the month to finance a tarot around the universe of Lovecraft, I can’t wait to discover that! In the meantime, go have a look at their Instagram page or on the website to discover more and to enter their dark universe.
