Exploring strange new worlds and in defiance of danger advancing into the unknown…
Science fiction is a genre that has always had a profound effect on me. I have read dozens and dozens of books set in the future or in space, and I have also devoured for hours many films and video games with this futuristic setting. Personally, I find that it is one of the few genres where we can travel with a single image, where our imagination can run wild.
So when I come across an artist who creates his own worlds inspired by major SF works, I can only drool with admiration. Guy Warley creates illustrations with a very particular style and prefers most of the time to focus on the architecture of his worlds. Whether they are ultra-developed or in ruins, all these cities exude a kind of serenity, like a moment of calm before setting off on an adventure. I’m a big fan of his color choices, often being of only one hue per illustration, giving a very special style to all his creations.
