Jaime Martinez : The Art of War during the 41st Millenium

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only badassness

Jaime Martinez is a Spanish artist who began his career as an illustrator for advertising before working for the video game industry. He then became a full time illustrator at Games Workshop, the British publisher of Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar. For those unfamiliar with those licenses, they are very popular wargames. Warhammer Age of Sigmar has a high fantasy setting, and succeeded into drifting from the classical fantasy universe to a quite original and dark version of the Lord of the Rings. Warhammer 40,000 takes place in a far, far future, where, you know, there is only war. Described as gothic opera, the 40k setting is very, very dark, tortured and grim. But, on the other hand, it’s also an amazingly cool and fascinating setting to create artworks and to express one’s talent. And Jaime has a lot of talent.

Being a full time illustrator on both of those universes, Jaime creates amongst other things books and game covers featuring the main factions fighting each other in the game. From terrifying daemons to dangerous aliens, from space crusaders to abhuman warriors, Jaime depicts the Games Workshop universes with an amazing skill, whether you are a fan of Games Workshop or not.
