Odyssey of Souls
Jason Engle is an artist I’ve been following for a little while now, especially for his work with Magic the Gathering and his great dark fantasy illustrations. It’s however another project that I want to present here. Indeed, after having worked for the gaming industry for more than 20 years, Jason decided to start creating his own universe, his own mythology. And once is not customary when one knows his style, we will dive right into a mix of SF and Dark Fantasy.
Jason will thus open the doors of Mausolea, a kingdom composed of all the myths of the beyond, all the heavens, the hells, and everything in between, side by side, combined in one place and reflecting an extraterrestrial glance of our own world. This artist will thus imagine different myths and ancient gods as if they were part of the same universe. We thus discover in a new light Osiris, Hades, and many other gods, as frightening as they are fascinating.
We have here a real cosmogony put in place by an artist, and I find it absolutely fascinating. The level of detail and information provided by Jason Engle is just incredible, and I’m waiting to find out more and see how far this project will go (please an artbook or even a role-playing game, let’s be crazy). In any case, I can only invite you to discover the Mausolea and Jason’s work via his Instagram page or the project website.
