Let’s Face the Dark Side !

Of course you know Mondo ! The Texas based gallery is the King on the hill of pop culture inspired movie posters. It is with Mondo that the whole Geek-Art madness began, it is Mondo that inspired me to create this blog you are reading ! Last week, during Austin’s SXSW, the Mondo gallery opened his doors to a great deal of people, all eager to have a closer look at Mike Mitchell’s Star Wars portraits series.

It all began when Mondo acquired the Star Wars license. Amongst the many awesome posters already dropped, there was this incredibly cool heroes and villains portraits by Mike Mitchell. A portrait art that kinda became his specialty.

Amongst those portraits you can find Leia, Luke, Chewie, but also Rey, Kylo Renn, Yoda and many more. All prints were released online as timed limited editions. The gallery also displayed Mike Mitchell‘s “bastards”, artworks created with two halves of different portraits to create original and fun new characters. This artshow, as you can see below, was a well deserved blast !
