Welcome to the world of Alex Eckman Lawn, where the strange meets the disturbing, where fantasy meets modern graphics, where colors embrace black and white… Alex’s world is a mixture in which countless influences meet, with a “cabinet of curiosity” side that we really like! Alex Eckman Lawn is an American artist born in Philadelphia who enjoys working with multiple media. But in the first sense of the term! Indeed, he mixes collage, illustration, photography, painting, graphic design and illustration to create unique pieces in which live different levels of reading and depth. We will find his work in comics (you will find Alex’s work in the comics Mouse Guard or Little Nemo), album and book covers, but also a lot of t-shirts!
There is a little Lovecraft side to his work that attracts me a lot, a feeling of diving into an abysmal visual, which takes me into dangerous and unknown universes. A feeling of having to deal with an artist who reveals without revealing hidden messages, coded, that only the initiated can understand! In any case I like very much what happens when I contemplate his often very organic works, and for good reason: he likes above all to cut out old medical books, which brings even more Lovecraftian (or cute!) mystery to these works. In short, I invite you to dive into his work, but beware: you will probably not come out unscathed!
