The very fantastic creatures
Even if with time I am more and more oriented towards science fiction, it remains that fantasy is the first genre of the imagination to have made me travel, to have transported me and made me live extraordinary adventures. Whether it is via The Lord of the Rings, the Never Ending Story or even with Diablo 2 the books of David Gemmell, fantasy has forged my imagination and my capacity for wonder.
Also, finding artists revisiting themes from this universe instantly transports me to this period of my life. Contemplating Annie Stegg Gerard‘s illustrations and creations is a real treat for the eyes and the imagination. Her way of imagining fantastic creatures is simply impressive and one quickly begins to visualize what a bestiary of this incredible universe could look like.
But what really makes Annie’s salt is her graphic style. Playing perfectly with colors and composition, she manages to create portraits as well as breathtaking landscapes. Some of her works make us think of pages from the notebook of an adventurer lost in a strange universe, portraits from another time or grandiose scenes.
