If you happen to come across this post while you’re working, my apologies. I literally spent a good hour discovering all the fantastic work of Larry McDougall, and I had a lot of trouble to get out of it! This illustrator indeed plunges us into a fantasy world between The Lord of the Rings and The Wind in the Willows. In his world, a bit like in David Petersen’s Mouse Guard, the animals take up arms and face the dangers of a fantasy universe. But unlike Mouse Guard, Larry McDougall takes us more into the “everyday life” of these humanized animals. We discover their living places, their transportation, their cottages, their way of dressing… A beautiful world, entirely painted in a traditional way, which gave rise to an artbook, Gwelf, The Survival Guide, backed with great success on Kickstarter two years ago. To be discovered urgently for all fans of fantasy and poetry.
