Tan Zhi Hui is a very talented concept artist, illustrator and character designer.
What strikes me when looking at his illustrations is the graphic style and the design of the characters. The shapes are very straight, with many angles. Each of the limbs of his characters looks sharp like a samurai sword, each piece of armor, each piece of clothing is clean. But his shapes also serve to compose his images. If you look closely, it is easy to detect strong geometric shapes in each of his illustrations that bring unity and link all the elements together.
Likewise, one can detect a powerful dynamism in his work, not only thanks to his work on shapes but also thanks to the perspective with which he easily plays. Even the characters that are represented in static poses seem to be animated by a force and an energy ready to explode. This work on perspective also allows him to focus on the elements he wants the viewer to see first, guiding the eye as he sees fit through his illustrations.
