Our Heroes in the Bushido Era
I love to discover artists taking characters from the Pop-Culture and imagine them in another universe, other times. Those anachronisms make me dream every time and also wonder how the adventures of those heroes could look like (if someone wants to imagine The Lord of The Ring in a Cyberpunk version taking place in a Japanese submarine station, I’m in!).
Nikola Čižmešija is of those artists who have enough imagination to put his favorite characters in other worlds. With his series “Way of the Spider” and “Trinity“, he created his own Bushinverse, where comics heroes are now in a medieval Japan. We can see Miles Morales, Daredevil, or even Black Panther in traditional outfits. And it’s pretty easy to imagine Batman and Superman as martial arts grandmasters.
