Twisted, distorted and twisted
Seeing an artist you’ve been following for a long time venture into the field of Geek-art when you’re not expecting it at all is a real pleasure. Russ Mills began drawing at a young age and graduated in 1995 with a BFA in Graphic Art and Design, specializing in experimental film and animation. Russ continued to draw and paint, always learning and never being satisfied.
He began to develop and perfect his computer skills on a computer. His current work is a hybrid of traditional media and digital imagery, focusing on human particularities, both physical and emotional, that translate into distorted forms that are both subtle and extreme, in a world between urban fine art and contemporary graphic design.
He thus used all his know-how to create a whole series of illustrations around different characters from the Marvel universe and the result is absolutely stunning. With his unique style, Russ manages to create a movement around each of his characters and accompany them with small touches of very fine and light colors. I am an absolute fan of Russ’s work on this series and I can only encourage you to follow him via his Instagram account.
