Armors and Princesses
I know, I know, new princesses with a new version we’ve never seen before? Exactly! Before I introduce you to the works of Artemii Myasnikov, I’d like to come back to why Disney princesses are so revisited. That’s up to me, but I sincerely believe that these feminine characters are rooted in the depths of our collective imagination. Even if we only remember animated films briefly, we all have these different heroines in mind. And I really think that’s why it’s a crazy pleasure to see them reappear in worlds to which they don’t usually belong. It instantly gets our imagination going and we immediately get into the game of imagining what stories these princesses would live through.
And that’s exactly what the illustrations by Russian artist Artemii Myasnikov inspired me to do, they immediately transported me to a world where all these heroines fight in absolutely magnificent armor. The artist’s style also had a lot to do with it, especially with his use of colors and especially to see how he managed to respect the outfits of these characters. I’m a big fan of his version of Pocahontas and Mulan, which probably looks a lot more like their real versions than the ones we know of Disney.
I’ve chosen to present only the Artemii princesses, but believe me, there’s much more to discover on his Instagram page. So go for it!
